Suntrust banking has six types of checking accounts, including the Signature Advantage Checking, Smart Solution Plus, Preferred Checking, Smart Solution, Select 50, and Free Checking.  Each one of these Suntrust checking accounts has their advantages and disadvantages.

The Suntrust free checking account and Select 50 account are the only two that don’t require a minimum deposit.  If you are looking for a checking account, but don’t want to have to maintain a minimum balance, then you might want to check out Suntrust free checking.

The Signature Advantage Checking, Smart Solution Plus and Smart Solution checking accounts don’t charge you a fee for using non-Suntrust ATM machines.  This is a great feature of these Suntrust banking accounts.  Of these Suntrust accounts, the lowest minimum balance requirement is the Smart Solution account which requires a minimum balance of $1,500.  If you go under $1,500, you are charged a $9 per month fee.

Another great feature about Suntrust checking is that you don’t have to do all of your banking online.  While Suntrust online banking is great, sometimes you want to be able to go into a local branch to make deposits or talk with the bankers.  Unlike some other Internet banks, Suntrust allows you to always visit a Suntrust location..
