SunTrust Bank has emerged as a premier financial institution in recent years. The company offers a multitude of banking services besides the regular checking and savings accounts. SunTrust Bank CD rates are a major factor behind the rising popularity of its CD offers.

CD rates at SunTrust are available in two basic denominations. One is the standard CD investment option where customers can invest their money in CDs with up to five year terms. They can also opt for the special and IRA CDs that offer both standard rates and also offer some special rates under different plans and packages.

SunTrust CD rates for the standard investments are as follows. A 10-month CD currently returns an APY of 0.80% with a minimum deposit of $2,000. A 25-month CD returns an APY of 1.60% whereas a 32-month CD offers up to 2.00% in APY. A 59-month CD, both standard and IRA, offers an APY of 3.00%.

Special offers are available for 26-month CD investment option where customers can yield as high as 3.00% APY; this offer is also applicable on 49-month CD. A No Penalty CD is also available for a term of 10 months but its APY is lower at 0.50%. Penalties are applied on other CDs in case of user violation. The bank also offers other interest rates and special offers on its website. Many of these offers are valid for only a short period of time while some of them may last longer.
